Property owners are urged to request a complimentary roof inspection to support an insurance claim and prevent unnecessary water damage. When hailstones of this magnitude strike shingles, metal panels, rubber roofs, sealants, and gutters, moisture infiltrates soffits and the support infrastructure. Leveraging commercial roof inspection services provides property owners with a comprehensive roof hail damage report that can be used to fast-track an insurance claim.
The National Weather Service high wind and hailstorm damage map for Saturday, Oct. 15th, shows storm concentrations over Arizona, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. All told, 22 high wind incidents and 54 hail reports were reported over 24 hours. Wide-reaching resources highlighted the following hail property damage in Fort Smith, AR.
- Barling: The Sebastian County municipality sustained a steady pelting of quarter-sized hail during the early evening. Wind gusts topped 60 mph as airborne debris and snapped tree branches struck the siding of buildings.
- Fort Smith: Multiple reports were fielded in Sebastian County, with the largest hail exceeding the size of ping pong balls. High winds downed power lines and snapped tree branches.
- Greenbrier: Hail the size of half dollars pummeled roofing systems across Faulkner County.
- Hackett: Hail the size of quarters blanketed the area.
- Ozark: Franklin County experienced ice fall the size of half dollars during the early evening.
- Rye Hill: Ping pong ball-sized hail struck automobiles and roofing systems, leaving dents.
- Watalula: Intense thunderstorm winds snapped mature tree limbs across Franklin County.
Along with hail roof damage, thunderstorms doused the region with rain that can seep through cracks caused by the ice strikes. It’s essential to have a commercial roof inspection performed to identify any slow leaks and promptly file an insurance claim. Delays could result in an insurance corporation denying a storm roof damage claim later.
RestoreMaster dispatched roof repair specialists to Fort Smith after hailstorms and tornados wreaked property damage havoc on Monday, April 11, 2022.
Some roofing systems can be severely harmed by damage from heavy winds, tornadoes, or hail.
Some older roofs can be damaged by winds as low as 50 miles per hour.
Several factors will determine the severity of roof damage: the height of the building and proximity to nearby structures, the quality of work by the original installers, the shape and angle of the roof, the age and type of roofing materials, and the impact from debris.
Getting a roof inspection & property damage assessment after severe weather like this is important for determining whether you need to address roof damage from hail or high winds.
Circumstances do not always allow for immediate repair of roof leaks. In the meantime, an experienced disaster roofing contractor can cover the roof or affected area with a tarp or with a durable plastic shrink wrap material, until such a time when more permanent repairs can be made. We need to stop more moisture damage, so we can prevent mold growth.
Get your roof inspected, even if you think there is no problem, especially if your property falls anywhere within the area of the hail and wind damage map.
Symptoms of storm damage problems do not always show up immediately.
And insurance companies can require you to get a claim in before their deadline.
